The National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Charles Dwamena, also known as Dr China, has declared his intention to contest for the position of General Secretary of the NPP when nominations are opened. 

Dr  Dwamena, who previously served as an administrator of the NPP at the party Headquarters, also previously served as the Chapter Chairman of the NPP for China. 

He also served as Deputy Ambassador to China before his election as National Treasurer of the NPP. 

Speaking to the Voiceless Media, Dr Charles Dwamena explained that he had acquired both party and corporate experiences over the years and felt obliged to bring his services to the door stairs of the NPP in another role hence his intention to contest as General Secretary.

Dr. China, as he is affectionately called, is known for his insistence on transparency and compliance with processes and procedures.

 It is believed that when elected as the General Secretary of the NPP, he can bring his huge experience and networks to bear on the fortunes of the NPP.
