What is happening at Ghana Audit Service is very scary — the govt is deliberately denying the staff over there funds due them ostensibly to make them incapacitated and susceptible to accept bribes so corrupt govt officials would escape accountability.

Parliament appropriated monies in the 2025 appropriation bill based on the 2025 budget for the payment of the quarterly allowances of Audit Service staff but sadly, Ato Forson has deliberately stop paying these allowances since the 2nd quarter of 2025. It is instructive to note that these quarterly allowances are in place purposely to motivate the staff and empower them to be incorruptible as they discharge their anti-graft duties.

Nana Addo’s govt paid these allowances promptly for the last 8yrs; However, in just 12months in office, the NDC govt has deliberately stop paying.

Again, salary increment due them haven’t been paid till date. Over the years, whenever salaries are increased, Staff at the Audit Service receive theirs as “Backpay” — a lump sum of all unpaid increment for all the affected months. This is normally paid to the staff in September or October; however, it’s December yet Ato Forson is dragging his feet and doesn’t want to pay them. His excuse is that the Audit Service ought to have reminded him about this in writing prior to September, although they never had to inform or remind any finance minister of this which is captured in budgets and appropriation bills. 

Audit Service has since October written officially to the minister for him to pay them these salary increment arrears and he has refused to act on it till date.

Audit Service staff have began their audit of govt expenditures across ministries, departments and agencies, and deliberately the govt is putting them in a position of financial distress as we approach Xmas where their spending increases hugely, ostensibly to make them susceptible to accept bribes from Ministers, CEOs and heads of Parastatals.

This is very alarming and a deliberate attempt to cripple our anti-graft agencies for the govt to have a free and unchecked space to rape the public purse.

The govt has bought CSOs, compromise the media, hijack the Judiciary, and now, crippling anti-graft agencies in order to steal and misappropriate our taxes.

Ghana is doomed!
