PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Tema East Constituency Nasara Wing
2nd December, 2025.
Tema East Constituency Nasara Wing expresses deep concern and strong condemnation over the recent statement made by Jacob Amarh, who is purported to be the Tema East Coordinator for Kennedy Agyepong, attacking the personality, dignity, and capability of Northerners, particularly the claim that they are “incapable of leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and that the best they can offer is to clean public toilets for others and not to lead the party ”. This statement is distasteful and should be condemned by all well meaning Ghanaians and Patriots.
Such remarks are not only offensive but completely unacceptable. They undermine the principles of fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunity that should guide our democratic and intra-party processes. No group of people whether defined by religion, region, ethnicity, or culture should be subjected to disparaging remarks or portrayed as unfit for leadership.
Northerners have historically contributed immensely to the growth, unity, and progress of this party and country, and have also played significant roles within the NPP and national leadership. Attacks on their character and capabilities is an attack on the ideals of equality, respect, and party cohesion. These are the needed ingredients for any party unity.
We firmly state that Leadership is determined by competence, integrity and commitment, not by one’s religious background or place of origin. Discriminatory statements have no place in our political space and therefore people with such mentality are not only old-fashioned but detrimental to societal progress.
Every Ghanaian, regardless of his identity, deserves the right to aspire to any leadership position within the party or the nation.
We call on all political actors to refrain from divisive rhetoric and uphold the dignity of all party members and communities. The NPP leadership should also take a clear stance against discriminatory comments and safeguard unity within the party. We also encourage all party members to continue promoting peace, tolerance, and mutual respect in this internal election.
Our party's strength lies in its diversity, and any attempt to demean a group based on identity must be rejected without hesitation.
Signed:
Sir Gibril Ahmed.
Deputy Secretary.
