Times and seasons have always produced special people destined to play unique roles in shaping history. In this defining moment of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stands out as the most prepared and providential candidate among the five aspirants seeking to lead the party into the 2028 elections and beyond.

For nearly two decades, Dr. Bawumia has been the face, voice, and spirit of the NPP’s vision of transformation. Since 2008, he has campaigned tirelessly alongside President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, articulating the NPP’s economic and governance philosophy with unmatched intellect and conviction. His brilliant defense of the party’s cause in the 2012 election petition before the Supreme Court remains one of the most remarkable political performances in Ghana’s democratic history.

Dr. Bawumia went on to partner Nana Akufo-Addo in victory, winning the presidency in 2016 and serving diligently as Vice President for eight productive years. Now, as the NPP seeks continuity and renewal, Dr. Bawumia naturally emerges as the most experienced, knowledgeable, and market-ready candidate among the five. His deep understanding of Ghana’s economic structure, coupled with his sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of ordinary citizens, gives him an unmatched advantage. Having spent nearly two decades listening to and engaging with Ghanaians across all regions, he embodies both the intellect and empathy needed to lead effectively.

In terms of political branding and public trust, Dr. Bawumia is already a household name. He is the most marketed, the most tested, and the most trusted among the contenders, including whoever will come from the NDC side. 

The NPP’s greatest advantage over the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) lies precisely in this; the NPP already has a candidate who commands national recognition and enjoys broad appeal across the country.  

Introducing a new candidate at this critical juncture would only mean starting the marketing process all over again, something time and political momentum may not permit.

So, one must ask: why should NPP delegates think twice about maintaining Dr. Bawumia’s mandate as flag bearer?

When measured by loyalty, experience, competence, and national appeal, Dr. Bawumia stands tallest; not just among the five aspirants, but in the hearts and hopes of millions of Ghanaians who yearn for transformational policies, innovation, and inclusive progress for the country.
