The Abokobi Oldies Club has successfully organized its maiden Breast Cancer Awareness and Health Screening Program, held on Saturday, 18th October, 2025, at the Abokobi Community Park. The initiative, the first of its kind within the Ga East Municipality, marked a significant milestone in community health advocacy and early detection efforts.

The event recorded an impressive turnout, with residents from Abokobi and adjoining communities trooping to the venue to participate in the free health screening exercise. The enthusiasm and large attendance underscored the growing recognition of the importance of preventive healthcare and public awareness in combating diseases such as breast cancer.

A dedicated medical team from the Ga East Health Directorate and the Abokobi Polyclinic conducted comprehensive screenings, including breast examinations, blood pressure checks, and glucose level testing. Participants also benefited from health education sessions that focused on early detection, lifestyle modification, and the importance of regular medical checkups. Many attendees expressed deep appreciation for the initiative, describing it as both timely and impactful.

The event was climaxed with an exciting football match between Sampoli 11 and Uncle Felix 11, which attracted a large crowd of spectators. The entertaining encounter showcased impressive skill and teamwork from both sides and ended in a 1–1 draw. A return leg has been scheduled for December 2025, as part of efforts to continue promoting unity, fitness, and social engagement among members of the community.

The Abokobi Oldies Club expressed profound gratitude to all individuals and institutions whose support contributed to the success of the event. Special appreciation was extended to the Member of Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Assemblywoman for the Abokobi Electoral Area, the Ga East Health Directorate, the medical team, and Voiceless Media for their immense support and collaboration.

The organizer of the event, Mr. Alhassan Iddrisu, reaffirmed the club’s commitment to sustaining initiatives that advance public health, community unity, and social development. He noted that the success of the 2025 Breast Cancer Awareness and Health Screening Program has set a new benchmark for similar community-driven health campaigns in the Ga East Municipality and beyond.
