The Stolen Projects That Sank Dr. Bawumia

The humiliating defeat of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 elections was not simply the work of the opposition. No. It was engineered from within. The Vice President was sacrificed on the altar of selfishness and betrayal by his own party’s MPs who shamelessly hijacked central government projects and paraded them as their personal achievements.
Social interventions like Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, One District One Factory, and One Village One Dam were credited to Nana Addo’s government. But when it came to roads, health centres, electrification, and water systems, these PC/MPs—greedy for political survival—snatched the credit, branded it as “their effort,” and denied the very government that made it possible. They stripped Dr. Bawumia of the chance to stand tall as the symbol of the administration’s development record. And when the people rose up in anger over hardship and broken promises, who did they punish? Dr. Bawumia.
PCs/MPs Must Be Called Out
Let us be clear: these MPs are not innocent bystanders. They are the architects of betrayal. They were elected to serve, but instead, they built little empires of lies. They cashed in on the government’s sweat, stabbed the Vice President in the back, and walked away pretending to be development heroes. Their selfishness handed ammunition to the opposition and left Bawumia to fight alone.
It is an insult to the grassroots and to the intelligence of Ghanaians. These PCs/MPs caused the humiliation, and yet some of them are still parading around Dr. Bawumia’s flagbearership bid as though nothing happened. If they are not pushed aside, if they are not told “enough,” then the anger of the base will never heal.
Bawumia Needs a Clean Break
If Dr. Bawumia wants to rise again, he must cut off these leeches. The grassroots are boiling with resentment—not at Bawumia personally, but at the PCs/MPs and former appointees who betrayed them. Keeping them around is political suicide. Their presence is poison.
The party needs a clean slate. It needs a campaign that shows honesty, humility, and a true break from the arrogance that cost 2024. Dr. Bawumia must surround himself with new energy, fresh hands, and committed party people who have not soiled their names. Only then will the anger of the base melt away, and only then will the party unite behind him to deliver a massive victory in the flagbearership race.
Time to Choose
This is not the moment for business-as-usual politics. This is a fight for survival. The very PCs/MPs who stole the people’s projects cannot be allowed to steal Dr. Bawumia’s second chance. Either they go, or they drag him down again.
The grassroots are watching. The people are waiting. And history will not forgive another betrayal.
