I, Mbowura Jimah Awudu, the first vice chairman of the NPP in the Damongo constituency, want to officially declare my  support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to be maintained as the flag bearer of the party and also suspend my intentions of declaring to contest for the Damongo constituency Chairmanship.

This call came as a result of the consistent approach of the coordinators of various candidates who are vying for the flagbearership race, asking me to either join their campaign team or I should be made the coordinator of the said candidate in my constituency . 

Also, after taking my time to follow Dr Bawumia on the previous speeches and current ones, I have the firm belief that this is the man we want to lead the party and country..

My intention was to stay neutral as the first vice chairman of my constituency,

I respect and love all the aspirants who are vying for the position. They are all people with dignity and can wrestle power for us come 2028, but upon a critical reflection, I have come to the realization that Dr Bawumia stands closer to getting power for the Npp come 2028 than any other candidate.

Dr Bawumia as he has already been already marketed, and the name being  a household name in Ghana, he’s way of thinking, humility and the ideas he’s displaying shows he’s  different and far from the colleagues and hence, he’s the one Ghana needs currently.

Digitalization is gradually becoming the backbone of every economy in the world.

At first , I was part of those that criticized him of failing to fix the economy and running under the cover of digitalization.

When I sat with friends who traveled abroad and understands the digital world, I realized I was lost in the forest when it comes to the new world we are in.

I actually don’t have much knowledge about IT ,and so am not abreast about the technological future in which we are.

I then  reflect back to some of the policies that were introduced by Dr Bawumia and agreed with them and hence changed my mind about the Digital man.

They also made me understood why Dr said he will prefer a Ghana card to thousand interchanges, which was perfectly elaborated when I made my mind to listen and learn.

As we speak, any international recognition Ghana is getting now has something to do with Dr Bawumia.

Gold for oil and the rest clearly showed that the man has the Modern Day visionary thinking which we as a party should embrace and support him achieve the goals.

My friends talked about the credit system and how it helps them buy highly cost things with little payment, which most of us again misunderstood when he said you could buy an iPhone and pay 1 Ghana cedies.

I have come to appreciate and understand who Dr is, he’s an embodiment of the modern day thinker.

No wonder when he speaks, you hear nothing but visions and ideas, you envisage a brighter future the country will be if his ideas are implemented.

So,with this, I came to the conclusion that,the party doesn’t only needs a leader to lead the party to victory, but also lead Ghana to the new world.

I therefore want to thank those who appreciate and believed in me and also approach me to help their course.

I haven’t turned down your offer, but just want to help the man Dr Bawumia accomplished the the dream he has for the Npp and Ghana at large.

Yes of course , the que is long like most of you said to me about Dr Bawumia’s camp, but I believe in serving the party, the grassroots and mother Ghana.

I will serve as a personal ambassador of Dr in my constituency, region and the country at large.

I will also use this opportunity to appeal to all my well wishers and sympathizers to kindly support and promote Dr Bawumia in all their media engagement and personal interactions with people.

My campaign to become the constituency chairman is on hold and will formally come out with my intentions after 31st January 2026

Since is not time for constituency elections, I will only dedicate my time ,money, spirit to Dr Bawumia until his made the flag bearer.

Before I leave, I have one appeal to make to Dr.

Dr. Insha Allah, you will be made the flag bearer and the president of the country come 2028.

The only thing I want from you is please take good care of the grassroot, give back to them what they gave you.

The Nana Addo Bawumia chocked a lot of success in governance, but the neglect of the grassroot turned people away from the party and I pray you don’t repeat the same mistake again.
