On Wednesday, 10th September 2025, His Majesty Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, Overlord of the Wala State, on the occasion of the climax of 2025 Dumba Festival presented a citation to Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih. Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, a distinguished public servant and proud son of the Upper West Region, has exemplified the essence of patriotism and statesmanship through his remarkable service. During his tenure as Regional Minister under the esteemed leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bin Salih demonstrated unwavering dedication, diligence, and humility, effectively bridging the gap between government initiatives and the needs of the people.

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Bin Salih remained resolute in his commitment to advancing the welfare of the Region’s people. His leadership was characterized by an open-door policy, fostering strong relationships with traditional authorities and promoting peace and harmony among diverse communities. Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih holds the distinction of being the longest-serving Regional Minister of the Upper West Region to date. Notably, he is the only Regional Minister among the five regions of Northern Ghana who served two terms under President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration, a testament to his unwavering dedication and trustworthiness. As one of the President’s most trusted appointees, Dr. Bin Salih left an indelible mark on the region through his visionary leadership and impactful initiatives.

Some of his most notable achievements include:

- Completion and Operationalization of the Regional Hospital in Wa: This landmark project significantly improved healthcare delivery in the region, providing critical medical services to thousands of residents.

- Autonomy for the Wa Campus of the University for Development Studies (now S.D. Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies): This milestone marked a major step forward in the academic and intellectual growth of the region, empowering the university to chart its own course and expand its educational offerings.

- Completion of the Regional Police Headquarters: This facility will strengthened law enforcement in the region, enhancing security and providing a vital resource for maintaining peace and order.

- Activation of Commercial Flights to and from the Wa Airport: This initiative has greatly improved connectivity, facilitating easier access to the region for business, tourism, and other purposes.

- Completion of the Multipurpose Youth Resource Centre: This centre will serve as a hub for youth development, offering opportunities for skills training, mentorship, and empowerment.

- Establishment of the Waste Processing Plant: This project represents a significant step towards sustainable waste management in the region, promoting environmental cleanliness and public health.
