A former mayor of Tamale and the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Tamale Central for election 2024, Hon Salifu Sulley has sued one Alhaji Fuseini Yahaya also known as Agbaa Ghc1 Million in general damages for defamation. 

The said Yahaya Fuseini had produced an audio in which he was heard directly and loudly accusing the former Mayor of  Tamale of stealing rice meant for party folks and selling the same to a woman the defendant says he knows.

Speaking to the *Voiceless Media*, Hon Salifu Sule explained that since the audio became public,  his immediate and extended families have become subjects of mockery and he is in court to restore his image, integrity and dignity as a public figure.

The plaintiff who once served as the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP also once served as the Regional Communications officer of the NPP. 

He also worked as Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Program and also Regional Manager of the Youth Employment Agency.

He was President of TESCON at the Tamale Technical University, having previously served as its secretary.

In recent years,  he worked as the mayor of Tamale and also as the Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP in Tamale Central. 

Bold description of him as a thief in the words of Hon Salifu Sulley has spread like wild bush fires with several calls, text messages, and emails from inside and outside the country to find out if the story was true.

The only solution to redeem his image is the laws of the country through the courts. The former mayor explained.

The defendant has 8 days to enter appearance either in person or through his lawyers.
