As we (active members and supporters) of the great elephant party continue to debate and assess your suitability for the role of flagbearer of our party to lead our campaign for the 2028 general elections; and subsequently lead our country as President in 2029, l want to divert the conversation a little bit. Some members may be uncomfortable with this “diversion” but it is important we bring these other issues of consequential value to the fore now.

Please bear with me.

Let’s talk about opportunists/apolitical people. They are not interested in what we are doing now. They won’t talk politics, write politics or make any public political commentary in favour of the NPP. In the current internal debate, they staying aloof. They do not support any aspirant. Many of them say, we are noisy and irrelevant. They aren’t politicians in opposition. Their tactics is to lurk behind, hide in the shadows, while waiting to for us; the activists, the volunteers, foot soldiers and intellectual base to work flat out, put in the effort, campaign extensively unlimitedly for the NPP to win power; and then these OPPORTUNISTS and APOLITICAL masquerades will emerge from nowhere with claims of what they did privately to support the party. These CHARLATANS will FALSELY say that they paid huge sums of monies to the party on the quiet. They will say they have qualifications /certificates from the world’s leading universities. They will employ ways to skillfully achieve their objectives by indirect or deceitful methods mainly through families and close associates of the president. Some will pay huge sums of cash  to certain “powerful” persons around to the President to secure critical roles at the expense of the many people who toiled, sweated, suffered and funded the party in opposition.

All presidential hopefuls must appreciate what the generality of the grassroots and many committed prominent persons are doing to ensure that we rebuild the party and win political power. It must be the plan of the Presidential aspirants to ensure that people who have demonstrated greater commitment, loyalty and worked their ass off in opposition to bring the party back to power be handsomely rewarded when they become President. It cannot be business as usual. Things must change. This “cruelty” of hiring people outside the NPP stock; who intentionally remain physically or emotionally detached or uninvolved in our activities currently; and throughout our struggle MUST STOP! When people keep distance, show lack of interest, or not participating in our activities, campaigns, et cetera, it demonstrates their unpreparedness to identify with us. They are not interested in what we do. They only become exceedingly interested when we form a government.

We can no longer tolerate this nonsense of “Monkey dey work baboon dey chop”. It must stop! We will fight it. We must resist it with our full might.

If anyone wants position or job or aspire to serve our country in the next NPP government, he or she must participate reasonably in our struggle now. We must see you in the NPP board rooms. We must see you in our strategy meetings. We must read your articles promoting the party. We must see you on TV projecting and defending the party. We must listen to your voice on radio  communicating for us. We must see you in your local constituency working and campaigning for the party. We must have evidence of your financial support to the local or national party. The NPP must engage or hire our active members who have nurtured the party and who are QUALIFIED, COMPETENT and CAPABLE to serve Ghana. If you live abroad and you care about us, join our diasporian branches and become a member of good standing.

When we carry our people along validly, we exude confidence into the NPP politics and this will encourage reconnection and participation of our disgruntled and inactive base; and others to sign up. This is how we can build a strong, lasting and buoyant party capable of winning elections. We can then serve our country competently as we have done in the past.

Let’s rebuild together. Let’s win together.
