As the race to the date for the election of the Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) nears so as the campaign is becoming heated up and desperation to lead is evidently showing up with unwarranted statements coming from some Presidential Candidates. It is pathetic and shameful to say the least.
In the heat of this campaign, we have heard a lot of stories emanating from some Presidential Candidates and their supporters. Not too long ago, some Presidential Candidates were heard boasting of their wealth as though they are going to Will or share their assets among NPP members. Some have even boasted of financing the NPP more than any other person in the party since its formation.
The recent absurdity with regards to this internal political campaigns within the NPP is Dr. Bryan Acheampong's shameful and unwarranted attempt to rope in the age long Bawku conflict by telling delegates not to vote for Dr. Bawumia because NPP will lose the 2028 elections due to the Bawku conflict. Really? Does he know when the Bawku conflict started? Is that the only conflict in Ghana? And what does he intend to achieve with this dangerous and self inflicting campaign? Does NPP really learn at all?
Dr. Bryan Acheampong, the Mamprusi - Kusasi conflict in Bawku started since 1957 - the time you were not born and Dr. Bawumia was not born too. So, it is better for you to stay completely away from the Bawku conflict and concentrate on your failing campaign. It is obvious that when a campaign is lacking ideas, the option is engaging in divisive campaigns. If you do not pray for the conflict to end soon, we are praying fervently for a lasting solutions to the conflict even before 2028.
The facts available are that the Bawku conflict was in existence when Dr. Bawumia supported Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo to successfully win elections as a running mate on the ticket of the NPP on two occasions. The Bawku conflict is not and cannot be a decider of who leads Ghana as a President.
Dr. Bawumia is a politician who stands for all, irrespective of your religious, ethnic, colour, creed, etc background. If he becomes President of Ghana, he is going to be President for all, that Dr. Bryan Acheampong should know.
In conclusion, I indicate once again that if you (Dr. Bryan Acheampong) do not want the Bawku conflict to end, The revered Asantehene, Tiduguma Nayiri and other relevant stakeholders are working hard to bring finality to the Bawku conflict soon to shame politicians like you. Bawku is bouncing back again stronger and better, so, respectfully leave the conflict out of your campaign, it is dishonourable and undignified.
Thank you
