Dear Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,

You still remain among my favorite leaders globally, in fact, I rate you as the greatest Ghanaian leader ever ahead of everyone else including everyone. I remember your leadership during COVID, and the global economic crisis. You took some very gut-wrenching, decisions that were unpleasant, but they were necessary.

They said you collapsed the economy but truly, you left them enough funds, so much that when you allocated some 300 million for the operations of the Office of Government machinery with its many programmes, from the collapsed economy, the found some 2 billion for the same purpose with lesser impactful programmes, and a dedicated 78 million Cedis for the Government’s propaganda unit, all from the collapsed economy you left behind. Clearly, that collapsed economy claptrap, can only be told to the marines!

That is not why I am even making this post Nana, it’s been 8 months, and in these period, everything these bunch of heartless, vindictive, power-drunk, high-on-dominance and obsessed-with-command bunch have done in their attempt at governance all reminds us how much of a tolerant, all-embracing leader you were. You embraced their moderates, embraced their extremists and their gang of everything goes halfwits as well.

1. In this country, NDC radio host, Samuel Huntor sat on radio, called for your plane to crash. We heard it, the security operatives heard it, you just took it as excesses of free speech. It was not for nothing, that you went to extreme ends to ensure the repeal of the criminal libel law.

2. Sammy Gyamfi and his friend Brogya Genfi, led a gang of power-hungry lunatics, marched in the streets of Accra, with cameras on them, on national TV, sang, calling on God to take your life and that of your veep. Today, they’ve been rewarded with a CEO and ministerial position. You took their assholery again, as an excess of free expression.

3. The most painful amongst these all, was when we woke up one morning and major NDC media houses had it on their frontpages, that you killed your late wife, for power. As painful as it was, you only sent a written complaint to the National Media Commission, and that is where it ended, the NMC.

Today, these clueless, incompetent cluster of ego-driven, drunk-on-authority, horde of supremacy-crazed, crowd of domineering intolerant clowns say they don’t understand free speech and the excesses with which it comes, the same democratic demonic privilege they exploited and abused. They are arresting bloggers, content creators, and political activists for doing in most instances a minute fraction of the things they were engaged in. I didn’t know JM was more president than you were.

Thank you Nana, you were tolerance personified, and an embodiment of free speech, even when you suffered its most unpleasant excesses.

Posterity shall deal you its kindest and warmest embrace.
