Yesterday, August 6, 2025, is a day that will forever be etched in the annals of Ghana's history as a day of immense loss and sorrow. A tragic military helicopter accident in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of eight remarkable individuals who dedicated their lives to serving our great nation.
We mourn the loss of:
1. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, whose tireless efforts strengthened our nation's security apparatus.
2. Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, who worked relentlessly to protect our natural heritage. (He was a brother and we had mutual respect)
3. Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, whose expertise and leadership were invaluable to our national security. (He was a brother, who showed interest in my affairs)
4. Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC, a stalwart of his party.
5. Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Former NDC Parliamentary candidate.
6. Squadron Leader Peter, a brave and skilled pilot who dedicated his life to serving our nation.
7. Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, whose bravery and professionalism were an inspiration to his colleagues.
8. Sergeant Ernest Addo, a devoted member of our armed forces who gave his life in service to our nation.
To the families of the deceased, we offer our deepest condolences. May you find strength and comfort in the memories of your loved ones and the impact they had on our nation. May their legacies live on, inspiring future generations to serve with courage, dedication, and selflessness.
May their souls rest in peace, and may Ghana forever remember their contributions. My deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama and the bereaved families. May you find strength and comfort during this difficult time.
