The Voiceless Media Research Group has deliberately done some work on the Chairmanship contest in the five Northern Regions and will share some information with our readers.

People always like to ask of research samples even when they should automatically know that in small-scale research like this, the delegates are the best and foremost people to poll. They constitute the research sample size.

There is the option of polling their political godfathers, family members, and best  friends to have a fair idea of the direction they are most likely to vote. This is a research strategy that works.

We didn't ignore sponsors of the delegates, their tribal and religious considerations, and other demographics.

All standard research tools were deployed, and what we will publish will be what will come up to be the case on Saturday.

Introduction

The Upper East Region is made up of 15 constituencies.

They have 339 delegates, but 337 will be voting in this election.

The reason for the 337 and not 339 is that the Regional Secretary is also a member of the National Council and can only vote once.

The Deputy Regional Organiser Mr Ibrahim Mustapha is now the constituency chairman for the Tempane constituency. He can also vote only once.

*The delegates*

The delegates consist of all regional executives. All constituency executives.

All Tescon presidents of recognised tertiary institutions in the region, all Tescon coordinators in the regions.

All council of Elders and Patrons, Founding Members and Members of Parliament where we have some as  well as Regional Representatives to the National Council of the NPP.

*The contestants*

1. Elvis Figo Awoneka- An Accountant

2. Osman M. Konkonaba- A businessman

3. Dr Moses Kwabena Atinga- a medical doctor at the Tamale Teaching Hospital

4. Filson Kweku Awankuah - An Engineer

5. Patrick Ayaba- A small small miner

Our research as of yesterday points to a direct contest between Hon Elvis Figo Awonekai and Dr. Moses  Kwabena Atinga.

Whilst Figo has served the NPP in various capacities in the Upper East Region,  his recent positions have been Regional Secretary and a Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP in the 2024 elections for the Bolgatanga Central constituency.

He is a familiar face amongst the delegates and has worked with some of them as Regional Secretary.

Dr Moses Kwabena Atinga is contesting for the Chairmanship slot for the second time.

He is familiar with the terrain and has some loyalists rooting for him.

All the delegates who spoke to the Voiceless Media Research Group were unanimous that Hon Figo can make up to 169 of the 337 votes.

Our finding is that Hon Elvis  Awonekai Figo shall be elected as the next Regional Chairman of the Upper East Region on Saturday with 50.1% of the votes.

We shall publish the full details later.
