The latest public gymnastics from Dr. Eric Opoku’s camp have left many of us with just one conclusion: some big men in this government are catching a cold because Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson’s political weight is growing by the day.

How else should Ghanaians read this clumsy attempt to make it seem as though the Finance Ministry is starving the Ministry of Food and Agriculture? Dr. Ato Forson has made it clear, black and white, that about GH¢1.6 billion, which is a whopping 85 percent of the Agriculture Ministry’s budget for goods, services, and capital expenditure, has already been released.

Where Did the GH¢1.6 Billion Go?

The matter is simple. It is a straight "show your working" case:

If GH¢1.6 billion has hit your accounts, why is Dr. Eric Opoku directing public anger toward the Finance Minister?

Why is he not explaining to Ghanaians how those massive resources have been used on the ground?

At a time when the economic terrain is tough and ministers should be putting their heads together to deliver for the ordinary Ghanaian, Dr. Opoku seems more interested in playing cheap politics. Many of us backing Dr. Ato Forson are asking ourselves: Is this really about food on our tables, or is it about the 2028 presidential race?

Let’s call a spade a spade. Dr. Ato Forson has emerged as one of the most visible, competent, and influential engines driving this administration.

Across Ghana—and especially within the Central Region—the youth and elders alike see him as a heavyweight leader whose national profile is rising fast. Naturally, conversations about his future political prospects, including the presidency, are shaking the political landscape.

And that is exactly where Eric Opoku’s sudden "wahala" is coming from.

The Central Region is Watching

When a sector minister tries to drag his colleague’s name through the mud despite clear evidence of major budget releases, we must ask: What is the agenda? Is this genuinely about farming, or is it a calculated attempt to pull down a rising star before he becomes unstoppable?

If Dr. Eric Opoku thinks attacking Ato Forson will diminish his credibility or quench the fire of his future leadership prospects, he should think again. He has miscalculated big time.

The people of the Central Region are fiercely proud of Dr. Ato Forson. We have watched him rise through pure grit, sharp intellect, and dedicated service to this nation. We will not sit down unconcerned, fold our arms, and watch anyone try to pull him down with textbook pull-him-down (PHD) politics.

The Hard Facts

Let’s look at the scoreboard:

The Finance Minister says GH¢1.6 billion has been released.

The Agriculture Minister has not brought a single receipt or counter-fact to dispute the figure.

Instead of answering real questions about implementation, fertilizer distribution, and actual delivery to our farmers, they are trying to divert public frustration toward the Ministry of Finance. This standard deflection will not wash.

If our farmers are struggling, Ghanaians deserve to know the real reason why. If agricultural programs are stalling, give us a proper explanation. If the money isn't enough, bring the data. Do not use political blame games to score cheap points against a colleague who is busy doing the heavy lifting.

Focus on Your Mandate

Dr. Eric Opoku should focus on his core mandate. Focus on food security. Focus on bringing down food prices in the market. Focus on helping our farmers increase their yield and income.

What he should not do is launch a proxy war to cast a shadow over one of the finest brains in this government.

The Central Region sees through the plot.

Ghanaians across the country see through the smoke and mirrors.

Dr. Ato Forson’s political future will be decided by his track record, his vision, and the trust Ghanaians place in him—not by boardroom sabotage disguised as policy disagreements.

If Dr. Eric Opoku has real facts, let him put them on the table. If he has genuine grievances, he knows the cabinet channels. But if the goal is to dim Ato Forson’s shining light and derail his presidential prospects, he should know today that the agenda has failed.

The more unfair these attacks get, the tighter we will stand behind him.

Hands off, Ato Forson. Let the work speak!
