It is with a heavy heart and profound respect that I extend my deepest condolences to the Chiefs and people of the Lawra Traditional Area, and to my brother, Hon. Anthony Karbo, on the passing of our father, Naa Puowele Karbo III.
The departure of such a distinguished traditional leader is a monumental loss—not only for the Lawra Paramountcy but for the entire region and the nation at large. Naa was more than a traditional ruler; he was a beacon of wisdom, a custodian of our rich cultural heritage, and a tireless advocate for the development of his people. His leadership provided a pillar of stability that resonated far beyond the borders of his traditional realm.
To my brother, Hon. Anthony Karbo, I share in your profound grief with a heavy heart. To the world, he was a distinguished Paramount Chief and a statesman of immense stature, but to us, he was a father whose warmth and guidance were constant. I know all too well the weight of this moment; losing a father who was also a mentor leaves a void that words can scarcely fill. My brother, please take comfort in the knowledge that you carry his strength and his integrity within you. He was immensely proud of the man you have become, and his spirit will undoubtedly continue to guide you in all your future undertakings. In this time of sorrow, please know that I stand firmly beside you, not just as a friend, but as a brother. We shall honour his memory by upholding the principles of leadership and service that he so gracefully instilled in us both.
On a deeply personal level, Naa Karbo III was a guiding light in my life. He did not merely observe my journey; he took me as his own son. He held a special place in his heart for me, demonstrating a sincere and fatherly interest in all my endeavours. His counsel was my compass, and his encouragement was my strength. To lose him is to lose a mentor whose kindness and belief in me helped shape the person I am today.
To the bereaved family, may you find solace in the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind. His life was a testament to service, and his memory will forever be etched in the progress of the Lawra state.
To the people of Lawra, may the unity, peace, and dignity he championed continue to guide you through this period of mourning. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. May the ancestors welcome him with the highest honours, and may his great soul find eternal rest.
Rest in peace, Nba Lawra Naa.
