WHO ARE THE LEADERS OF THE NPP IN THE NORTHERN REGION?

I was asked this question yesterday somewhere and I will attempt an answer.

It must be explained that what ever I state here reflects my opinion and knowledge of the NPP for over 3 decades.

Regional Executives

In the scheme of partisan political  happenings in the Northern Region,  Chairman Samba as chairman of the Regional Executive Committee automatically is the leader of the Regional Executive Committee of the NPP.

This is the case and not in doubt.

Ministerial Leadership

I am unable to confirm whether the Ministers we have from the Northern Region have met to pick one of them as a leader of the Ministerial caucus in the Northern Region.

We have 3 full substantive Ministers of State  from the the Northern Region.

They are Hon Dominic Nitiwul (Defence).  Dr Mohammed Amin Adam (Minister of State at Finance) and we have Dr Awal Ibrahim Mohammed (Minister Tourism).

We have two Deputy Ministers namely, Hon Alhassan Tampuli (Transport) and Hon Thomas Mbomba ( Roads).

Hon Hardi Tuferu (Agriculture)

I must add that we have a Regional Minister just like other Regions heading the Regional Coordinating Council.

Who is the leader of these Ministers in the Northern Region?

Do the Ministers usually meet to discuss the welfare of the NPP in the Northern Region?

Parliamentary Caucus in Northern Region.

I am told and it has been confirmed that Hon Hardi Tuferu of Nanton is the leader of the Parliamentary Caucus in the Northern Region.

I am unable to tell if he is effective but most people in the Northern Region don’t know this.

CEO Caucus

I can only count six CEOs that we have in the Northern region.

My definition of CEO means substantive or Deputy.

It also means Coordinator, Managing Director or Deputy Director General.

Alhaji Alhassan Yakubu Tali from Tolon,  CEO of the Agriculture Development Bank.

Musah Superior Deputy CEO Forestry Commission from Mion. Bawah Majeed Deputy CEO National Sports Authority from Yendi.  Hajia Abibata Shanni Mahama  CEO  of MASLOC from Yendi.  Abigail Swad Laryea Deputy CEO from Yendi.  Hon  Abraham Jawol CEO of Ghana Supply Commission. We also have Ali Fawaz, Deputy Chief of Staff and Napaga Tia Clara Sulemana.

I must state that they could be others under this category that I don't remember immediately.

I have no knowledge whether they also meet to brainstorm on the Political fortunes of the NPP in the Northern Region.

My humble Suggestions

I propose strongly that if the above don’t meet at least monthly, then they should start monthly meetings to discuss the future of the NPP in the Northern Region, and discuss other prospects. This is  important.

Those of us  who don’t belong to the above categories  but who have sufficient knowledge of the party can be brought on board in any progressive meetings that can inure to the benefit  our region.  We are available and ready.

The inability of any Political observers to answer the above questions without blinking an eye shows that there is work to be done in the Northern Region politically and it must be done and now.

We can not continue to operate in an everybody for himself but God for us all fashion.

That model is outdated.  We need to think through ways to make our region strong towards election 2024.

I am just thinking aloud.
