The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia since he came into the political  limelight has become an albatross around the neck of the National democratic congress ( NDC ). He has since 2012 occupied about 70% to 80% of political discussions in the country. It is not surprising most of the political communication of the NDC are  targeted at discrediting him. The question I am asking is, why is the NDC not interested in the likes of Chief Alan, Kennedy Agyapong and the rest but keeps on attacking the Vice President.?🤷‍♂️

In 2015 and 2016 prior to the 2016 elections his economic Lecture series arguably won the NPP power. His incompetent tag of John Mahama was the key to the victory of the NPP so I am not surprised the NDC are finding it so hard to tag the Vice President a liar spending huge sums on money on that lair tag to discredit him ahead of the 2024 elections. Dr. Bawumia has since the 2012 elections petition  becomes the target of the NDC propaganda. The strategy of the NDC going into 2024 elections is very simple to discredit Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because they believe he is the only person who has the confidence and courage to trumpet the achievements  of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He is the only candidate who throws challenges to the National Democratic Congress and they go into  hibernation. We will recall Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia just recently challenged the former President and leader of the National Democratic Congress, John Mahama to name only one social intervention policy that his party introduced when he was the President it is close to six or so months and John Mahama is yet to respond to him. These are some of the things that makes the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia their target of their propaganda strategy.

The NDC  believes that, Dr. Bawumia is the only candidate who have won the recognition and acceptance of the international community  that if they allow NPP  delegates to vote for him to lead the NPP into 2024 elections the international community will come in to support him to win against them.

Again, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) believes Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the only candidate among the lot whom if allowed to be voted to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) brings  an end to their long standing  propaganda  message that *brands the New Patriotic Party ( NPP ) as an Akan Party* the NDC knows very well that if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is allowed to be voted to lead the NPP in the next election their NPP is an Akan Party propaganda will  die out politically. 

Also, the NDC knows and believes that it is only Dr. Bawumia among the candidates who can win John Mahama on personal personal achievements as a Vice and President.  Dr. Bawumia as the Vice President has lead so many pro poor politics.

Looking at the influence of the Vice President in the 2020 elections in the 5 Northern regions the NDC believes that if they allow Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the NPP party into 2024 elections it will be a disaster for them in those regions. Dr Bawumia been a northerner and facing his northern brother John Mahama who failed woefully as a Vice President and a President will be an easy battle in the northern region for Dr. Bawumia.

The most worrisome part for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) going into 2024  elections are the Zongo Votes. The Zongos been the stronghold of the NDC will be battle out with Dr. Bawumia as the leader of the NPP.  Our Zongo brothers believe that they have helped the NDC and John Mahama in the past so so it is time to help their won brother for  the highest office and above all for them to be part of history ( voting for the first Muslim President). The NDC knows very well that if Dr. Bawumia leads the NPP in 2024 they risk losing their three or so  seats which are all mostly Zongo seats in the Ashanti region.

With Dr. Bawumia going to select a very youthfulnand energetic person from the Ashanti region which happens to be the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party coupled with the so many developmental  projects in the region ie. roads infrastructure key been the Suame interchange if completed , hospital infrastructure ( Agenda 111),  Schools , Kumasi Airport now international airport etc their votes of the Ashanti region is already preserved. So whiles the NPP votes in the northern sector appreciates because of the effects of Dr. Bawumia the NDC's votes in the Ashanti region will depreciate due to the Zongo advantage of Dr. Bawumia and above all the massive developments in the region.

With the above analysis I wouldn't blame the National Democratic Congress ( NDC ) for supporting all the other candidates in the New Patriotic Party's  ( NPP) flagbearer contest against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The NDC wins if DMB loses and they loses if DMB wins. However, delegates are very clear in their minds and are ready and fully prepared to vote massively for DMB to win  the contest for the party to break the 8.
