REJOINDER:

My attention has been drawn to a video recording making rounds on social media in Ghana. In the said tape, the Hon Yelvieldong Bakye Bright Balig, Member of Parliament for Lambussie-Karni in an address to a gathering claims to be a grandson of Chief S D Dombo of blessed memory. According to him, if there was any person whose genealogy could be traced to Chief S.D Dombo’s family in the current Parliament, then it was him.

I am putting it on record that the claim by Hon Yelvieldong Bakye Bright Balig as a grandson Chief S D Dombo as he sought to portray to his audience is palpably false. Sources from my investigations tell me the member of Parliament in question hails from Kpare in the Lambussie-Karni District of the Upper West Region. I am also told and it is common knowledge among people who know him well that his father comes from the Chief’s palace of Kpare. Secondly, I am reliably informed that his mother hails from Karni Chief’s palace. I have also been well informed that until he became a member of parliament for the Lambussie Karni Costituency, he was appointed a Lecturer of the University for Development Studies and posted to the then Wa Campus.

I am putting it on record that the late Chief S D Dombo comes from Jirapa- Duori in the Jirapa Municipality of the Upper West Region.

Now, let me make it categorically clear that the claim by the imposter that the late Chief S D Dombo is or was his grandfather is palpably false. Simply put, the Hon Yelvieldong Bakye Bright Balig is NOT a member of the Dombo family and should do the NEEDFUL as an honourable member of parliament.

I therefore entreat all well meaning Ghanaians to treat this with all the contempt it deserves.

The writer is the first granddaughter of the late Chief S D Dombo, Mrs.Irene Ponu -Brenyah.
