Sometimes, we should hasten slowly, dig deeper into issues before we make pronouncements on same. This is in relation to what transpired in Assin North yesterday.

At all material times, before the President is ushered into a program, all other dignitaries must be seated first. The Chief of Staff and the Vice President must be seated before the President enters a program.

The President was on his way to the program since the Chief of Staff was already seated. The Vice President had to get inside and be seated before the President was ushered in.

No matter who was on the floor with the microphone, the Vice President ought to have been ushered in. It is a matter of protocol. You can’t alter this.

People should, therefore, stop creating the impression that the Vice President was brought in because Chief Alan was speaking. Did he not continue with his speech after the Vice President sat down?

Let us get this; Dr. Bawumia was not at the function as a presidential aspirant. He was there as the Vice President. Being an aspirant does not mean his job as the Vice President has come to an end. He is still performing his Vice presidential functions and that’s why he was in Assin North.

It wasn’t a platform to showcase the popularity of presidential aspirants but the one to canvass votes for Charles Opoku to win the by-election tomorrow.

Mind you, not everyone who spoke was a presidential hopeful, so this brouhaha is moot. The Vice President does not cease performing his vice presidential duties because he is vying to lead the party into the 2024 elections.

Let us get that distinction before we run riots with jaundiced mindsets. Assin North or the event organized was not meant for presidential hopefuls to campaign for themselves, and that is why they all campaigned for Charles Opoku and not themselves.
