14th May, 2024.

The NPP in the North East Region wishes to congratulate the NDC for successfully conducting your presidential and parliamentary primaries yesterday 13th May, 2023 in the North East Region. Organizing a political event of that magnitude isn't easy but you managed to pull through in the North East Region. We congratulate the winners and the leadership of the party in the region and in the various constituencies for standing up to the challenge. We however assure the winners that their celebrations will be short lived as we in the NPP, being led by our indefatigable regional Chairman, Chairman Nuru will retain our four (4) seats and recapture the Nalerigu/Gambaga and the Bunkpurugu seats that we lost painfully to the NDC.

The event in the North East Region, just like in most parts of the country, was however characterized by chaotic scenes. There were gunshots at the event grounds in the Bunkpurugu constituency, sticks and stones flew in the air at the event grounds in the Nalerigu/Gambaga constituency leading to the injury of a number of party supporters and there was also exchange of blows at the event grounds in the Yunyoo constituency. The NPP as a political party that loves peace, and indeed, so peaceful condemns these violent acts that almost mared the beauty of the contest in the various constituencies. We thank the security services for rising to the occasion to restore calm in these constituencies for the process to continue to a successful end.

These violent occurrences however didn't come to us in the NPP as a surprise because the NDC primaries across the country yesterday was a kind of "testing mike 1, 2" or a dress rehearsal for the NDC to put to effect the "boot for boot" and "do or die" mantra their elected flagebearer admonished them to imbibe in themselves going into the 2024 general elections. We in the NPP however believe that the conduct of the 2024 general elections will be very peaceful and the NPP will once again defeat the NDC fairly and squarely. We wish to appeal to the NDC to psych up their supporters to accept their defeat when it does come and we in the NPP will accept defeat if in an unlikely event that it comes.

The 2024 electioneering campaigns are going to be local and community based. Both parties will have the opportunity to tell every community what we have done for them with our mandates and based on that, they will decide whether to retain the NPP in power or bring back the NDC. And we have no doubt in our minds that we have a superior record.

Once again, we congratulate the winners and wish the the NDC well as we gear up for the battle of ideas for the mandate of the Ghanaian electorate in the 2024 elections.

....... Signed......
